JACKS RIVER SKILLS TRAINING CENTER

In 2009 we established the Jacks River Skills Training Center in partnership with the HEART/NSTA Trust (Jamaica’s National Training Agency) as a community based training institution to make Oracabessa residents more employable through vocational certification.

So far, we have provided over 1200 people with vocational skills certification in areas such as general construction, housekeeping & hospitality, tiling and customer care.

GOAL: To certify 2000 residents by 2030

TWO WHEELS ONE LOVE
BMX YOUTH PROGRAM

In 2012 we built the Caribbean’s first BMX track to teach riding skills to our local youth. Since then, we’ve used our BMX program to foster teamwork, discipline and a sense of responsibility within our riders. Our participants enjoy riding at our track weekly, using our bikes, safety gears and mechanics shop.

GOAL: To resurface our BMX Track, upgrade our bike inventory and build a BMX mechanic shop by 2030

SUPPORTING LOCAL GROWING TOGETHER AGRICULTURE

PROGRAM

Established in 2020, this program was designed to foster alternative livelihoods and support those whose employment was disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Since its launch, it has expanded to nurture agriculture-based ventures in areas such as hydroponics, livestock, crop production, and honey cultivation. Participants receive essential resources like hardware and agricultural supplies, technical guidance through our partnership with RADA, and comprehensive agri-business training delivered over a 9-month program tailored to each cohort.

GOAL: Develop 100 local farm businesses by 2030

FUTURE CODERS ORACABESSA GOLDENEYE

FUTURE CODERS CODING PROGRAM

In 2021, during the COVID-19 pandemic, the GoldenEye Foundation teamed up with Coditum/SummerTech to launch our community based coding program for youth aged 13-18. Participants learn coding, app development, 3D design, and animation. Starting with tablets, we now have a fully-equipped coding lab where students join online peer-to-peer classes with Coditum/SummerTech students in New York.

Each summer, the Foundation hosts its own coding camp with Coditum/SummerTech's support, and our top students attend SummerTech's coding camp in New York. Through this program, we aim to cultivate a generation of tech innovators, poised to excel in the tech sector.

GOAL: Empower Oracabessa Youth to pursue careers in technology
